Paper Fortune Cookies | Jillibean Soup

Happy Wednesday crafters. Can you believe we are hitting the end of the month already? Time is flying by at the speed of light at my house. I think it's because we have seen so busy. After spending last weekend in Salem at 2 different cheer competitions we are packing up our bows and headed to Dallas on Thursday.

In honor of our trip thought a little good fortune was needed so today's project is Paper Fortune Cookies. This was a little something I put together for the Jillibean Soup booth at CHA. I cannot take credit for this adorable idea I found it on Pinterest and cannot thank Kimberly Crawford enough for sharing this super cute project. Got to love Pinterest!

To make this cute project I followed Kimberly's instructions. I was lucky to have a 3 inch circle punch on hand to simplify the process. I will say the Jillibean paper was almost too thick to pull this off. Don't look too closely at the photo above or you might notice a small tear in the paper. I think a thinner paper would have been more forgiving. Also I used a glue dot type product to secure my cookies. Funny a couple days after making the project I walked into my office and all the fortune cookies had poped open. I would recommend using a hot glue gun instead.

All the papers used in the project are from the Jillibean Soup Sightseeing Stew Collection. The heart stamp on the fortune was from the large stamp set from Heart Healthy Red Bean Soup collection.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Reflected | Paper Smooches

Good Morning friends happy Monday. I hope you had a great weekend. I spent the bulk of the weekend at cheer competitions. Today is all about playing catch up and taking care of everything that didn't happen over the weekend. I thought I would start the week off with a layout I did recently for Paper Smooches. You know I almost skipped over this photo. It wasn't until I looked closer and saw my reflection in my son's glasses that I was inspired.

Thanks for stopping by today. It's going to be a wild week for me I am hoping to get ahead on my blogging but if I become scarce it's because I am headed to Texas for 5 days for a cheer competition. Yes I really have no life of my own right now.

Cards | Jillibean Soup

Happy Saturday crafters today I have 3 Jillibean Soup cards to show off. These are just a few of the cards I made for the booth at CHA. I am trying not to go on a Jillibean overload here so my goal is to spread my projects out.

This card features Spicy Social Soup and the new You're Tweet stamp set. I layered the stamped images for dimension.

This card shows off several pieces from the Stampables collection: wood buttons, polaroid frames and wood shapes. Stampables are a fun collection of items made with stamping in mind. You can include these versatile goodies on just about any project.

Jillibean-Smile-CARD

This is one of my Pinterest inspired cards it features Sightseeing Stew and Think Chip Alphas.

Smiling Laughing Sister | Technique Tuesday

Happy Thursday friends! Hi my name is Summer and I am obsessed with the long quote title. OK there I said it, I know you were thinking it. Some time ago I started a Pinterest board called WORDS TO SCRAP. It's become one of my biggest sources of inspiration. I like to always include journaling on my pages but sometimes a long quote title says it all.

I don't think my long quote title obsession will be going away anytime soon. I am constantly adding more quotes to my pin board some of my most recent quotes are cheer related and are perfect for some of my many cheer photos of my daughter.

Altered Frame Made Simple | Jillibean Soup

Morning crafters today I am showing off a super simple altered frame idea from Jillibean Soup. I made this project from a frame I found just sitting in my garage. To start off throw away the glass for your frame this allows for a more dimensional embellishments to be used. Then since I like the contrast of a black frame I spray painted this one with matte finish black paint. Next measure a piece of white cardstock to fit the frame and sew randome lines into the background for a little tone on tone texture.

(Supplies Used: Frame, Bazzill Cardstock, Jillibean Soup patterned papers/Die Cuts/Stickers/Wood Sprinkles, Hemp Twine, and Paper Smooches Pennant Die)

JBS-spicysocial-frame01

A little close up view shows off the stitched background much better. Also note I used a pennant die however the length of the shape was much bigger than I desired so I cut out my shapes then trimmed them down to a length that fit my frame.

Thanks for joining me today and happy crafting!

This month I invited my friend Patricia Roebuck to join me and take the Colour Suite challenge. I was super excited to have Patricia join me this month we first met about 2 years ago when I first joined the Lily Bee design team. While my layout is heavy on the red Patricia's is light and airy make sure you go to her blog to check out how she tackled the colour suite.

Thanks for joining me today for the February Colour Suite. To read more about this challenge or to check out my past challenges don't forget to make your way over to the Scrapbook & Cards Today website and Blog.

Happy crafting friends!
