Mama said eat your Vegetables

I am pretty sure my mom didn't say this because I rarely ate anything green as a child but as a parent I say it often. My husband says one of the many reasons he married me was because we like the same vegetables and I would never make him eat anything weird. Ha I made him eat cauliflower earlier this week needless to say he wasn't happy.

In my quest to stay heathly I found this wonderful foodie website Skinny Taste dot com. In looking though the recipes I found a monster smoothie made with spinach. I don't eat spinach raw or cooked ... issues I know. So I thought to give this a try.

Scrapbook-006
Yes mom I have found a way to eat spinach. Not shown in the first photo is frozen bananas. Sometimes I add other frozen fruit like blueberries or protein powder.

I have made close to a dozen of her recipes and I have loved them all. Today I have her slow cooker Barbacoa Pork going. I am so looking forward to dinner.

Have a great day!!

Lily Bee LOVE

Did you know I am now designing for Lily Bee? Probably not because I never really made a formal announcement. I am not really good about these things. So here is one of my first projects that was posted up on the Lily Bee blog earlier this month.

Travlers

(Supplies Used: Cardstock Bazzill, Patterned Paper from Lily Bee, Die Cuts from Lily Bee, Washi Tape from K&Co, Alpha Stickers Lily Bee, Corner Rounder, Resin Flower from Recollections, Button My Minds Eye, Rhinestones from Doodlebug, Stick Pins from JoAnn's, DMC White Floss, and Silhouette Cutting System)

Here are a couple of close up photos of my layout. I am a little obsessed with die cutting and using the negative space.

The Subtle Circle

Today I celebrate the subtle circle. It was something I went a little overboard with on this layout I made for Jillibean Soup a while back. I lined up the patterned papers to they matched up on the circles then I sanded the edges lightly to reveal just a bit of white. Then I pop dotted all the circles. The combination between the white edge and the raised circles gives them their subtle look.

Book-Worm

(Supplies Used: Bazzill Cardstock, Jillibean Soup Patterned Paper/Tag. Corrugated Heart/Baker's Twine/Stickers/Button/Die-Cuts/Chipboard Alphas, Tim Holtz Tiny Attached, Circle Punch from Marvy, and font Traveling Typewriter downloaded from the internet)

I thought I'd throw in a close up photo so you could better see the circles. If you look close enough you can see how I went a little nuts with the pop dots.

Have a happy day and get crafty :)

Tastes Great Less Filling

Who isn't obsessed with cupcakes these days. I really love them but they don't love my butt so here is my fat free calorie free option. I originally made these for the Jillibean Soup booth at CHA. I found the pattern for them via Pinterest.

Cupcakes-CHA
(Supplies Used: Patterned Paper Jillibean Soup, Stampin Up Scallop Punch, Jillibean Soup Bakers Twine, kitchen skewers and template from Kelligh Ratzlaff Designs)

A couple things to note about the pattern. I couldn't get mine to cut on my Silhouette I know it was total user error. So instead I made the pattern larger and printed the template out using my wide format printer. Then I cut it with an Exacto knife and scored all the folded edges. I also added a extra small hole at the top to accommodate the kitchen skewer flag. To cover the seam between the top and bottom I added a scalloped piece that I adhered with a hot glue gun.

Burlap Pillows

I have to say it's been quiet a crafty month at my house. Along with my usual paper projects I tackled a whole bunch of sewing projects that I had on my to do list. Remember my newly covered burlap ottoman from last month here are a couple of photos of my new pillows I made.

Pillow-fabric

I was playing around with some different fabrics here. Funny I didn't end up using either of the 2 prints shown in the above photo.

Pillow-01
The pillow looks quite large as compared to our dog. I used 2 different pillow forms from IKEA one 26x26 (see above) and the other 20x20 (see below). Two of the smaller pillows have burlap on one side and fabric on the other. I used a striped piece effect on the larger pillows. This allowed me to use some scrap home decor fabric I had in my stash from a previous failed home decor project.

Pillow-02
And becasue I can't resist a cute photo of my dog. He poses much like my kids do.

Pillow-03
Happy Crafting ... and yes Lisa this post was designed to taunt you with cute pillow goodness. I do sew for booze and food but Colorado is a bit of a drive.

April Spellbinders/PageMaps

Wow can you believe it's already April. Last week was Spring Break and somehow the weather gods got it mixed up because it was 60 plus degrees today while last week was a rainy windy and down right depressing. I spent most of the last 2 weeks in a drug induced coma thanks to the sinus infection my kids generously shared with me.

The April Spellbinders die set is called "Potpourri"

These photos are so very old. Sometimes I wish I hadn't started scrapbooking out of order who knows what other photos I might uncover if I keep digging. Don't forget to checkout the Pagemaps site to see how all the other designers used their dies this month.
