Coming Soon Happy Camper Stew | Jillibean Soup

Good morning crafters. A quick drive by today to announce Jillibean Soup's mid release called Happy Camper Stew. If you couldn't tell by the name this is a camping line. Perfect for me since we go camping several times a year.

This line is simply adorable right down to the little flamingos. They are perfect! Happy scrapping :)

Tutorials | Jillibean Soup

Happy Friday crafters. Another week has gone by at a wicked pace where does the time seem to go. Yesterday my daughter turned 13 (hence my frequent recent comments about time flying by). Enough of my nonsense let's get talking paper and glue.

For the past few months I have changed up what I have been doing for Jillibean Soup. Rather than doing my standard layouts I have been putting together a tutorial every month.Today I am showing off my first tutorial project a layout with a quilt inspired chevron pattern that I hand cut.

All the pieces on this layout were hand cut. I adore my Silhouette Cutting System but I realize that not every crafter out there has one so I specifically designed this background from strips of patterned paper. To check out my original tutorial on how to create a fun quilted chevron pattern make sure you stop by the Jillibean Soup blog.

Have a wonderful weekend.

May Colour Suite

Good Morning Crafters! Welcome to the May Colour Suite a monthly colour challenge I put together for my good friends at Scrapbook & Cards Today. I seriously don't know where the year has gone did you know in just 2 short months the Colour suite will be turning 2 years old. WOW my baby is now a toddler pretty soon she will be talking back and then going to college.

This month I tried a new approach to our colours. It seems I am always drawn to bright bold colors. There is something to be said for the softer side of life. So I thought I'd challenge myself to step outside the box and go neutral. This is what I came up with.

My personal take was to go with the neutrals and use the color sparingly.

Ruby Rock-It Cards

Good Morning crafters how is May treating you? I keep thinking time needs to slow down I can't believe we're just about half way through May already tomorrow is the 15th which is Colour Suite reveal day. I didn't see that one coming at all. I can't wait to show off our colours for May it's something a little different for me and I am a bit excited. Now that I have tempted you with a little bit of what's to come I have 2 last cards from my March Ruby Rock-It guest spot to share with you.

I turned the flags into banner pieces by simply removing the sticks and turning the embellishment onto it's side. By lining 3 in a row the embellishment took on a whole new look.

On a side note today I have a super cute tutorial on the Jillibean Soup blog on how to make a gift card bouquet. I originally made mine for my daughter's cheer coach for the end of the season gift but I think this project would make a perfect teacher gift.

Happy crafting :)

Another Ruby Rock-It Guest Layout

Hello crafters I hope you had a wonderful weekend and a Happy Mother's Day. I am starting off the week with another of my layouts from when I guested for Ruby Rock-It in March. This layout is a grid formula that has become one of my favorites. If you look closely you might be able to spot some of my past projects using this same design.

(Supplies Used: Cardstock Bazzill, Patterned Paper Ruby Rock-It, Stickers Ruby Rock-It, Die Cuts Ruby Rock-It, Washi from K&Co/Prima, Twine, My Minds Eye Enamel Dots, Felt, Stamp from Technique Tuesday, Ink VersaFine, Silhouette Cutting System and various fonts)

This layout is the perfect example how to use themed paper in a non-themed manner. This paper was carnival themed and I didn't have all that many photos that would coordinate with the line so I used some of the fun graphic prints instead. Pairing the green and blue with an unexpected pop of pink turned this line into something completely different.

Thanks for stopping by happy crafting :)

Happy 7th Birthday to PageMaps

Happy 7th Birthday PageMaps! It's no secret I love sketches. They have been a go to for me since my early days of scrapbooking. Not all sketches are created equal I personally like the layers Becky adds to her sketches. They not only give you ideas on photo size and placement but they give you patterned paper and embellishment placement ideas as well. No guess work needed!

Sketches are a wonderful guide. You can copy them exactly or you can tweak them to your hearts content. Below is today's guide to creativity.

Total busy scrapbooker confession: in my rush to get ready for Crop n' Create Burnaby I didn't get all my ducks in a row and while I completed this fun layout for Becky and PageMaps I missed an essential component. I was supposed to incorporate last month's Colour Suite. Okay this means it's time for me to take a closer look at my May calendar.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend and a fabulous Mother's Day!

Back to the land of the living | Ruby Rock-It

Hello there I always find it hard to get back into the groove of things when I get return from a trip. If I were smart I would pre-plan my blog posts out much farther in advance to compensate for this but I always seem to run out of time. I am sure I am not alone when I say I always have the best intentions and am generally short on time.

I spent a glorious long weekend in Vancouver BC at the Scrapbook & Cards Today Crop n' Create. I made many new friends, shared many laughs and learned a ton.

Back in March I guested for Ruby Rock-It an Aussie paper company. Today's layout is the first of several projects I have to share with you.

I have never mentioned this but I don't scrapbook in order. A long time ago I gave myself permission to scrap what ever inspired me at the time. It was a liberating experience. I am sure I have photos I have forgotten along the way but it's not something I let myself stress about.

Happy Crafting
