Got Cards Part 1

Sometimes I get hyper focused on layout and I forget to post my cards so I thought I would make this CARD week ... ok how about 2 days of cards instead since the week is half over.

Apparently I favor my corner rounder when making cards. I use a We R Memory Keepers Corner Chomper to round corners. What's kind of cool about this tool is you get 2 sizes in one tool. These cards both feature Jillibean Soup's Neopolitan Bean Bisque one of my favorite lines.

A little peek at the process

I have this habit of taking photos of my projects while I am scrapbooking but then I download them and they get lost among all my other photos. I made it a point to pull these photo out to share a little peek at the process that goes on when I get crafty. I would say 99% of the time I sketch my layouts in advance. I use spiral bound graph paper, one square is the equivalent to an inch.

No sketch is ever final. Some layouts look exactly like my sketches while other take on another form. This one changed just a bit. For some reason I moved the journaling around. I actually prefer the placement on my sketch but when it came down to it I didn't like the overlap on the photos.

Here are a couple of close up photos, as you can tell I am a little obsessed with using negative space.

Happy Mother's Day

Remember a couple of days ago when I introduced you to the Jillibean Soup Designer Challenge. A couple of months ago the Designer's Challenge was to scrapbook ourselves. I grumbled over it for awhile and came up with this layout I thought today would be a great day to show it off.

Jillibean Soup Designer Challenge

Starting in 2012 we started doing monthly challenges over at Jillibean. The challenges vary from month to month. The room pictured below was our April inspiration challenge.

Funny thing about this room I had already pinned this room so when I went to scrap I went and pulled an additional image to use as my design inspiration.

I used multiple elements from the room on my layout: the lattice pattern from the wall, the bright teal color and the little birds.

Little Thanks

Happy Monday here are some super cute tags I made using some Jillibean Soup scraps. They are really simple to make. Simply cut cardstock 2x3, holding the paper length wise round top corners with a 1/2" rounder, punch a hole in the center and add favorite border punch along the border. Then add your greeting stamp and favorite punch. I used a butterfly but you could a flower or any of your favorite die. These would be great if you needed to make a mass bunch of tags for any reason.

Thanks-Tags

Happy National Scrapbooking Day

Nsd_sct_logo

Happy National Scrapbooking Day! Today I have essentially the same layout in 2 different colour schemes. The idea is to show you how colour can change the look, feel and mood of a layout.

The first layout was my original Colour Suite layout from the Spring issue of Scrapbooking and Cards Today.

Our-new-ride.

Below is my color re-do layout. As you can see I went a totally different direction with color, I took a few design liberties and made some slight changes.

Happy May everyone ... today I have the May Spellbinders/PageMaps die set and layout to share with you. This set is appropriately named Tags and Flags.

New-friends

(Supplies Used: Cardstock Bazzill, Patterned Paper Crate Paper/Lily Bee, Alphas American Crafts, Stick Pins JoAnn's, Martha Stewart Starburst Punch, Crate Paper Button, Kaizer Kraft Rhinestones/Bling, Decorative Brad Crate Paper, Dies from Spellbinders, and Font Veteran Typewriter)

New-friends-01

When I originally laid out the banner it just didn't jump out at me so I decided to cut duplicates of the flag/banner pieces in solid cardstock. Then using foam squares I layered the 2 with a slight skew. Viola the banner instantly popped and no longer blended into the background.

Enjoy your day and go get crafty

Two Page Tuesday

Let's celebrate the double page layout I don't think we see enough of them out there. This 2 pager is about my daughter and how she loves to ride her bike. I don't know if you have noticed but I have been digging though my photo files and scrapbooking tons of really old photos. Years ago I gave myself permission to scrap out of order but in the process I skipped tons of photos for whatever reason.

2-wheeling

(Supplies Used: Cardstock from Bazzill, Jillibean Soup Patterned Paper/Stickers/Corrugated Sheet/Die Cuts/Baker's Twine/Buttons/Alpha Stickers, Silhouette Cutting System and Paper Clip)

2-wheeling-close-up

For an added twist I braided the Baker's Twine to make it thicker. Then I adhered it to my layout using glue dots. This really gives movement to the right side of my layout.
