Two Page Tuesday

Good Morning crafters a couple weeks back I posted an entry I titled Two Page Tuesday. Two page Tuesday was all about the double page layout. I decided this would be a great reoccurring post on my blog. So today is my second installment of Two page Tuesday.

In honor of Halloween I have layout that was previously published in Scrapbook & Cards Today. This one happens to be a favorite of mine and was based on a Becky Fleck sketch. I really love the focal photo and the grid design with fin layered elements.

It's in the details ... MISTED felt

A week or so ago I shared this Lily Bee layout. I wanted to take a some time go a little more into detail about my title treatment on my layout.

One-last-sunny-day

As I have said many times I am totally addicted to using the negative space from cut out titles and images. I backed this title with quilted misted felt technique. I really loved the quilted felt look I first used it on a card I did for Lily Bee titled "Happy Hello". So I decided to take my idea to the next level.

Today I am sharing a quilted misted felt technique. I started off with white felt but I thought it was a little harsh for my title. So I decided to colorize the felt with some mist. For this project I used Wheat Beer from Tattered Angels. I took this photo right after I misted the felt once it dried it lightened up.

One-last-sunny-technique-01

The next step is sewing the misted felt to my background paper using a lattice pattern. I know you are thinking wow such staright lines ... all I did was use my pressure foot as a guide it was pretty easy once a baseline stitch is in place.

One-last-sunny-technique-02

Once the lattice pattern is completed and the thread trimmed I simply layered my title on top.

One-last-sunny-technique-03

This is a super fun technique. The felt really absorbed the mist and once it was dry it did not come off onto my hands. Since my stitching is white the detail of this title treatment gets lost in translation.  Note to self: try this technique using a darker mist so there is more contrast.

You can check out my original post about this layout here and see the full supply list. Have a happy Thursday friends.

Now & Then featuring Jillibean Soup and Silhouette

I recently was going through some older photos and stumbled upon a shot from 2006 of my kids. It's amazing at how the years seem to pass so quickly. So I figured it would be cool to compare the old photo to one I had just taken on the first day of school.

the ADD crafter

Happy Monday ... I am wondering where all my time seems to going lately. Oh wait my crazy to do lists are sucking the life out of me. Lately I have felt like the ADD crafter trying to make time for projects in between having my car serviced, shuttling the kids around, and general daily nonsense.

I am starting the week off with a couple of Lily Bee cards. Both of these cards show off a couple of different uses for die cuts. Happy Together is a simple card that just layers a couple of pennant die cuts. Top off with a little twine and a couple of staples and viola instant card.

Happy-together-BLOG-card

Happy-together-BLOG-card01

Smile takes a different approach to the dies. I created a circle template in my Silhouette program then I used foam squares add dimension. The circle windows show off patterned papers and die cuts. The scallop borders were added to dress up the circle windows I created these by using punches. If you don't have a Silhouette cutting system try using an anywhere circle punch.

Both projects feature all products from Lily Bee Designs. The scallop punch was purchased at Michaels and is made by Recollections. Time to work on my to do list for the day ... cross your fingers I am hoping today is productive. Happy Crafting

Insta*Friday

I am trying something new it's what I am calling Insta*Friday. I really like Instagram, the fun filters and square frames simply make me happy. So I thought I would take time out on Friday's to share a little bit of life from Instagram ... hence the name Insta*Friday.

Insta friday 101912

I snapped this shot yesterday and truthfully I don't like lists (don't know why) but I have come to learn I do so much better with them. I am giving myself a big ole pat on the back because by the end of yesterday I crossed off at least 90% of this list.

For some great Instagram tips check out my Pinterest Photography board. Stay good and be happy ... have a fabulous weekend :)

Confessions of a reformed stamp-a-phobic

I used to say I was afraid of stamping. To be honest stamping intimidates me but you know what I like to keep pushing myself to grow as a designer and try new things. So yes stamping scares my pants off and I rarely stamp directly on a project for fear I might ruin something (anal scrapbooker alert).

You might find it ironic that the self professed stamp-a-pobic does freelance work for Technique Tuesday (their offices happen to be about 15 minutes from my house). Well I did say I was reformed right. Today's layout is one of my favorite stamping focused layouts I have ever done.

Be-Active-TT
(Supplies Used: Cardstock Bazzill, Patterned Paper Basic Grey/Bo Bunny, Buttons Fancy Pants, JoAnn's Stick Pins, Stampin Up Scallop Punch, White Floss, Black Ink/Embossing Powder, Fiskars Punch, Spellbinders Pennant Die, Corner Rounder, Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher and Stamps from Technique Tuesday)

This layout combines 5 different stamp sets from Technique Tuesday: Go Team, Baseball, Cheer, Soccer and Who What Where Ali Edwards. If you look closely all the stamped images were stamped onto paper then added to my layout. I still think my stamping is pretty basic, I tend to grab black ink and stamp on white paper. Boooring right ... there is still much growth potential here don't you think? I probably should have added something about expanding my stamping horizons to yesterday's bucket list (mental note made).

Happy Crafting ... today's goal stepping outside of my comfort zone.

Creative Bucket List ... revisited

It's been a while since I put one of my Creative Bucket Lists down on paper so I figured it was best to throw some of the ideas that have been floating around in my head down on to paper (so to speak). A Creative Bucket List is exactly what is sounds like ... simply a list of all kinds of things I want to accomplish be it scrapbooking or sewing or just about anything that fills my creative void. I usually try to put my list to paper at least 2x a year but it's probably been forever since my last one so I am well over due (btw click on the link above to see one of my old lists). So here goes ...

  • TAKE MORE PHOTOS (this one is always on my list I often feel like I don't taken enough photos at the right times)

  • Work with some of my instagram photos (use that tutorial I pinned)

  • Mist (this one has been on the list forever and it I feel like I just started scratching the surface)

  • Go monochromatic

  • Sew a holiday table runner (yeah yeah this is a carry over item I never got around to making maybe this year)

  • Hang the monogram letter in my living room (it's only been sitting there for over a year)

  • Create a foodie album (again another long time idea that just hasn't made it to paper)

  • Stop Scrapbooking so "literally" (I think I need a whole post dedicated to this)

  • Clean out some old product from my office I know I will never use

  • Use more of the 30+ Washi tapes I have accumulated over the last 6 months (apparently I have issues)

  • Freshen up my blog

  • Re-Organize my Pinterest Boards (they are a hot mess)

This list is a work in progress and will change and morph to fit my mood. If you ever wonder I do cross items off my list ... the last item I crossed off my list was a creating December Daily.

Apparently I now have a list of things to do better get crackin'

Two Page Tuesday

This last weekend I had the pleasure of traveling up north to teach for Jennifer Edwardson and Scrapbook Adventure's in Parksville British Columbia. One of my classes was a 2 Page Layout Workshop featuring some of my favorite Jillibean Soup products.

Layout #1 Fall 08'(sorry for the bad image) while this layout is rather simple the intent of it is to show off a great grid design. This type of design can easily be manipulated to hold more or less photos to the grid. Fill up the cardstock base with additional 3x4 cards to get even more out of this design option.

Fall08-blog-img

Layout #2 This layout is built of the strip. Simply build your layout by tucking elements under the strip. Modify the design by adding photos below or making the layout 1 page.

Family-is-4ever

All products used on each of these layouts are Jillibean Soup with the exception of cardstock and twine. I'd like to thank all the lovely women who took my classes this weekend. Happy Crafting :)

Guess what I have a new design inspiration ... triangles. This layout just shot to the top of my favorite list. I have been toying around with triangles. If you caught my Christmas card last week I made presents from triangles. This layout shows off the same idea on a grander scale.

To read more about this month's colour suite or to catch up on the older challenges make sure you stop by the Scrapbook & Cards Today website.

Pebbles Projects ... Part II

Happy Wednesday ... as promised I have more Pebbles Inc. projects to share with you today. So I have come to the realization I am quite a literal scrapbooker. I tend to make layouts like this one: birthday papers with birthday photos, DUH.

Pebbles-birthday-layout

(Supplies Used: Cardstock Bazzill, Pebbles Patterned papers/alphas/stickers/flowers/sequins, floral stick pins JoAnn's, Marvey Circle Punch and font Veteran Typewriter downloaded from the internet)

The next layout features the line Sunny Side. This layout is comprised mainly of patterned paper from the 6x6 Sunny Side pad. So for those of you who think 6x6 pads are only for card makers I say no way they are often the best part of a release.

My daughter really enjoys going through old photos with me. She even helped with this layout by coming up with the creative title. Thanks for stopping today by and happy crafting.

Pebbles Projects ... Part I

Good Morning ... so at the end of August I did a guest spot for Pebbles and I thought it was about time to get the projects up on my blog. Today I am going to focus on the cards (continuing the theme from the weekend) and tomorrow I will show off the layouts.

Pebbles-birthday-Card

Pebbles-Hello-Card

All 3 projects feature Pebbles Patterned Papers and embellishments from either the birthday line Hip Hip Hooray or the summer line called Sunny Side. I am not going to do the usual supply lists for these cards if it's not a Pebbles product it's something pretty generic like ribbon or cardstock. If you are curious about the bow card I made it from a template you can learn more about it here
