Simple Holiday Decor | Lily Bee

Today I have a super simple holiday decor project that is so easy even a caveman can do it. I often say this or that is simple and people don't believe me. This little project is really that simple and even though I am using mine for holiday decor this could be done with any patterned paper and put up for just about any occasion.

The string of lights are battery powered and were purchased at Target. The lights can currently be found in the holiday light section but are available all year round as I got mine during the off season. There are 10 lights on a string and they are powered by 2 D batteries. My decorative light set is made from paper from the Lily Bee Christmas Cheer 6x6 Tiny Tablet. I simply punched 2 flowers from patterned paper, punched a hole in the center and then slipped the bulb through the punched hole. The large end from my Crop-a-dile punch was the perfect size hole so the bulb fit snugly without the flowers falling off. Once the flowers were in place I crunched them up just a bit. The garland is really subtle on my mantle and fits my style perfectly. This idea could easily be changed up by using a different punched shape, different paper or adding more layers.

Thanks for stopping by today and Happy Crafting!

Two Page Tuesday on Thursday

In a perfect world I would have this layout up on Tuesday but alas it's Thursday and here I am. This layout was originally published in the Winter 2011 issue of Scrapbook & Cards Today

It's-a-Wonderful-Life-SCT-G

(Suppies Used: Cardstock Bazzill, Patterned Paper Pebbles/Echo Park/Jillibean Soup, Dimentional Stickers Pebbles, tags Jillibean Soup, Corrugated alphas from Jillibean Soup, alphas from Doodlebug, Fancy Pants/Doodlebug buttons, Flag Pebbles, Rubon Pebbles, Rhinestones Doodlebug, Stampin Up Scallop Punch, Spellbinders Die, Jenni Bowlin Bingo Holiday card, twine, Decorative Brad from Crate Paper, and font Veteran Typewriter downloaded from the Internet)

I was asked to design a 2 page grid style layout. Rather than filling up
the entire 12x24 canvas with a grid pattern I used white space to anchor my
grid photo block on the top and bottom of my layout. I inter-mixed 4x4 photos with patterned paper, a title and journaling.

This layout and many more are still available for download at the Scrapbook & Cards Today layout at their website (link is included above).

I thought you might enjoy a peek of all the papers I pulled when I started this project. Not all of this ended up on my layout but I find the process of shopping through my stash super inspiring.

Photo

As you can see from my layout below I only a handful of the original papers I picked ended up on my actual project.

Fall Flowers | Jillibean Soup and Scrapbook & Cards Today

Good Morning Crafters happy Wednesday. Today I am sharing a layout from the fall issue of Scrapbook and Cards Today. This layout was an assignment for Becky Fleck's sketch article. I was assigned an 8.5x11 sketch and asked to turn it into a 12x12 layout.

Fall sketch

The sketch was super cute and by simply enlaring the photos and patterned paper base this was easily expanded into a 12x12 layout.

I really stayed really true to the sketch. I am such a literal scrapbooker I need to step out of my nice cozy design box one of these days.

I hope you have a wonderful day. I am going to break out the ink and get my stamp on. Wish me luck!

the Fall Colour Suite | Scrapbook & Cards Today

Happy December folks wow where did the time fly this year. Today I am sharing my Colour Suite layout from the fall issue of Scrapbook and Cards Today. I thought I would start us off by digging into the process behind the Colour Suite. The fall suite was inspired by a nail polish color trend article from Allure magazine.

Fall-colour-suite-01
I was working on the fall Colour Suite while I was at CHA. I carried this around, note the folds and notes in the margin.

When I started this project I pulled all the patterned paper and other products I possibly wanted to include on my layout. Not everything I pulled will end up on my layout but it's a great starting point.

December PageMaps/Spellbinders

Good Morning Crafters today I have the latest from PageMaps featuring Becky Fleck's Spellbinder dies. This month I am also featuring Carta Bella's holiday collection from Deena Rutter called Merry & Bright.

Holiday-decor-SFullerton02

Holiday-decor-SFullerton03

When I use one of Becky's sketches I tend to stay pretty literal with my interpretation. For this layout I eliminated a couple of photos from the sketch because I didn't have enough to use on the layout. I transferred out the postage stamp idea for the pin wheel die which I used like a flower. You may have noticed this sketch is a 8.5x11 double page layout. I love to play around with different sizing. You may wonder what a 12x12 scrapper will do with smaller pages. I simply will mount these on 12x12 cardstock (most likely black) and put them right into my 12x12 album.

I used 3 different Spellbinders Becky Fleck dies on my layout: Office Supplies, Pin Wheels and Jar Labels. Now that I have all my dies organized it was so much easier to see what had when I went to scrap this layout. If you missed out on my Spellbinders Organization post from last Friday make sure you check it out.

Thanks for joining me today I hope you have a fabulous weekend. Happy Scrapping!

Vancouver BC | Jillibean Soup

Good morning crafters. I am buried under mounds of projects CHA work is already rolling and it's kind of awesome right now. I am taking a little break to share a Jillibean Soup layout today. This is the first layout I have done using photos from Instagram. I do love the mix of filters and borders you get through Instagram. I used the mini kraft envelopes as the vehicle for my photos. I think they turned out pretty darn cute. I sometimes am slow to get into products then I get a little obsessed it's kind of like that right now with the envelopes I keep coming up with ideas. I love that!

(Supplies Used: Bazzill Cardstock, Jillibean Soup Patterned Paper/Stickers/Alphas/kraft Pockets/Silhouette Hexagon, My Minds Eye Enamel Dots, Corner Rounder, Tiny Attacher, Circle Punch EK Success, Decorative Circle Punch Martha Stewart, Silhouette Cutting System/Image, and font Veteran Typewriter)

Here are a couple of close up shots. If you are wondering about the numbers on my layout I punched them from the Grandma's Lima Bean Soup Bite Sized Bit patterned paper. I specifically punched them so they would cut off little portions of the numbers. I then mounted them on a decorative punched out circle. The numbers then correlate to my journaling telling the story of my adventure in Canada.
