December PageMaps/Spellbinders

Good Morning Crafters today I have the latest from PageMaps featuring Becky Fleck's Spellbinder dies. This month I am also featuring Carta Bella's holiday collection from Deena Rutter called Merry & Bright.

When I use one of Becky's sketches I tend to stay pretty literal with my interpretation. For this layout I eliminated a couple of photos from the sketch because I didn't have enough to use on the layout. I transferred out the postage stamp idea for the pin wheel die which I used like a flower. You may have noticed this sketch is a 8.5x11 double page layout. I love to play around with different sizing. You may wonder what a 12x12 scrapper will do with smaller pages. I simply will mount these on 12x12 cardstock (most likely black) and put them right into my 12x12 album.

I used 3 different Spellbinders Becky Fleck dies on my layout: Office Supplies, Pin Wheels and Jar Labels. Now that I have all my dies organized it was so much easier to see what had when I went to scrap this layout. If you missed out on my Spellbinders Organization post from last Friday make sure you check it out.

Thanks for joining me today I hope you have a fabulous weekend. Happy Scrapping!

Vancouver BC | Jillibean Soup

Good morning crafters. I am buried under mounds of projects CHA work is already rolling and it's kind of awesome right now. I am taking a little break to share a Jillibean Soup layout today. This is the first layout I have done using photos from Instagram. I do love the mix of filters and borders you get through Instagram. I used the mini kraft envelopes as the vehicle for my photos. I think they turned out pretty darn cute. I sometimes am slow to get into products then I get a little obsessed it's kind of like that right now with the envelopes I keep coming up with ideas. I love that!

(Supplies Used: Bazzill Cardstock, Jillibean Soup Patterned Paper/Stickers/Alphas/kraft Pockets/Silhouette Hexagon, My Minds Eye Enamel Dots, Corner Rounder, Tiny Attacher, Circle Punch EK Success, Decorative Circle Punch Martha Stewart, Silhouette Cutting System/Image, and font Veteran Typewriter)

Here are a couple of close up shots. If you are wondering about the numbers on my layout I punched them from the Grandma's Lima Bean Soup Bite Sized Bit patterned paper. I specifically punched them so they would cut off little portions of the numbers. I then mounted them on a decorative punched out circle. The numbers then correlate to my journaling telling the story of my adventure in Canada.

Two Page Tuesday

Good Morning Crafters it's time for another edition of Two Page Tuesday. Today I have a 2 page layout that was previously published in the November/December 2012 issue of Creating Keepsakes.

Thankful-for
(Supplies Used: Cardstock Bazzill, Patterned Paper Studio Calico, Washi Tape Bella Blvd, Wood Embellishments Studio Calico, Sticker My Minds Eye, Alphas Jillibean Soup, Flag Sticker October Afternoon, Flower Bazzill, Punch Martha Stewart, Stick Pins JoAnn's, Decorative Brad Crate Paper, Silhouette Cutting System/Image, Corner Rounder, and fonts downloaded from the internet Veteran Typewriter/journlaing and Arial/title)

This is a super simple 2 page design, one I often fall back on when I have a bunch of photos that run all one direction. My photos are visually busy so I kept this layout on the simple side. I placed number tags on each photo and then connected them to my journaling to tell my story.

Happy Crafting!

Advent Calendar How To | Lily Bee

Good morning crafters today I have a super simple advent calendar to share today. This project was made solely from the 6x6 Christmas Cheer Tiny Tablet from Lily Bee.

LBD-Advent-Calendar-01

LBD-Advent-Calendar-02

To make an advent calendar like mine you will need the following: Christmas Cheer 6x6 Tiny Tablet from Lily Bee, red cardstock, small kraft envelopes (purchased from Micheal's), 7/8 inch circle punch, 1 inch decorative punch, Baker's Twine, Mini Clothes Pins, Candy, empty frame approximately 18x20 inch and black paint.

LBD-Advent-Tutorial-02

Using the 7/8 inch circle punch out the numbers from the number paper in the 6x6 Christmas Cheer Lily Bee Tiny Tablet. Punch 25 decorative 1 inch circles from red cardstock. I used a Martha Stewart starburst punch but you could easily use a scallop punch or circle punch. Then adhere together as seen in the below photo.

LBD-Advent-Tutorial-03

Cut a variety of 2.5 x 2 rectangles from the patterned papers in the Tiny Tablet. Punch a border along the long edge of each rectangle and then fold in half. Fill the bags with candy, fold the top down and top with the folded patterned paper.

LBD-Advent-Tutorial-04

Sew the treat bags shut. If you don't sew you can always staple your treat bags or even glue them.

LBD-Advent-Tutorial-05

LBD-Advent-Tutorial-06

I found an unfinished empty frame for under 10$, painted it black and distressed it. I stapled 5 rows of holiday baker's twine along the back. Since I have 2 kids there are 2 treat bags per day. I used the mini clothes pins to attach them to the baker's twine.

Thanks for stopping by today happy crafting!

Spellbinders Storage Solution

Happy Black Friday crafters. Long ago I gave up the craziness of Black Friday so instead I think I shall craft myself into a coma. If you follow me on a regular basis you know I work with Becky Fleck's Spellbinders dies. About 75% of my dies did not come with original packaging you can imagine I was in serious need of some kind of a storage solution.

After a quick trip to Office Depot for some sheet protectors and a binder this is what I came up with.

Spellbinders-Storage-01

I bought sheet protectors with different sized pockets then used some white cardstock and double sided tape from Xyron.

Spellbinders-Storage-02

Spellbinders-Storage-03

I tried to keep the sets that came in packaging somewhat together. I am super excited now that my dies are no longer in a padded envelope that I have to dump out on my desk every time I am looking for a particular die.

Happy Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving-charlie-brown-snoopy

I hope you have a wonderful holiday. I will be taking today off (literally) the only thing I made was reservations. While I love to cook I don't love to cook on Thanksgiving. Now that my secret is out I will confess this isn't the first time we have enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner out on the town. Have a wonderful day!

Cards | Lily Bee

Not all of my posts are in order of when I do my projects. Some projects are held back for one reason or another. That being said I posted last week about wanting to simplify my cards. I adopted the less is more approach last week when I did a couple of cards for Lily Bee.

LBD-with-Love-Card-01

(Supplies Used: Bazzill Cardstock, Lily Bee Stickers/Alphas and Heart Punch)

LBD-xo-xo-xo-Card-01

(Supplies Used: Cardstock Bazzill, Lily Bee Patterned Paper/Stickers/Alphas, Corner Rounder, Heart Die Sizzix, Scallop Punch Stampin Up, Mini Clothes Pin, Tiny Attacher Tim Holtz and trim from Montana Misfits)

LBD-xo-xo-xo-Card-02

These cards both feature unique ways to use the Lily Bee banner stickers. In the With Love card I simply punched the hearts out of the stickers and adhered them to my card with foam squares. On the XOXOXO card I quilted the stickers in a random pattern then I die cut out a heart.

I hope you have a fabulous Thanksgiving.

Two Page Tuesday

Good Morning Crafters it's been a couple weeks since my last Two Page Tuesday post. I always have such great intentions I wish I had put this layout up last month. I hope I can offer you some belated Halloween inspiration. Today's 2 page layout was previously published in Creating Keepsakes' Special Publication Scrapbooking Ideas for Every Season.

The papers I used on this layout came from an older Jillibean Soup line called Monster Stew. I am still hoarding this collection I seriously loved it. I think Jill was ahead of her time with the neon yellow hexagon paper.

Thanks for joining me for another installment of 2 Page Tuesday. Happy Crafting!

Puppy Love | Lily Bee

Today I have a layout for you showing off my triangle folding technique that I growing super fond of. This layout uses 4x4 squares folded into triangles and then pieced back together again. The other layout I did this on uses smaller 3x3 square and was titled How to make a Zombie you can see it here.

This layout uses Lily Bee and rather than mixing up the patterned papers I did a before I used a more tone on tone effect.

Puppy-Love

(Supplies Used: Cardsstock Bazzill/Jillibean Soup, Patterned Paper Lily Bee, Stickers Lily Bee, Stamps Lily Bee, Ink VersaFine Black, JoAnn's Stick Pins, Wood Embellishments Studio Calico, Enamel Dots, VersaMark, Clear Embossing Powder from JoAnn's, Chipboard Flower My Minds Eye, Tiny Attacher Tim Holtz, Corner Rounder, and fonts Lobster-title, OldSansBlack-title and Veteran Typewriter-journaling)

Puppy-Love-detail-01

Puppy-Love-detail-03

Puppy-Love-detail-02

This layout shows off several stamping techniques. The pattern on the title was created with Versamark Ink. I simply re-stamped the row of dots repeatedly until I got the desired effect. I also combined stamped words image along with sticker letters to create embellishment blocks and a header for my journlaing block. Then used a pennant stamp to create the flag elements.

Thanks for stopping by today I hope you have a fabulous weekend. Happy Crafting!

November Colour Suite

Good Morning Crafters! Sometimes I hear Robin Williams (from Good Morning Vietnam)in my head when I am typing that. Okay I digress back to the business at hand. Welcome to the November Colour Suite a monthly colour challenge I put together for my friends at Scrapbooking and Cards Today. This month was all about taking traditional fall/November colours and throwing them out the window.

Nov_2012_challenge

I forced myself to say away from any form of blue which seems to be a go to neutral for me weather it's light or dark. I ended up with a colour palette that from first glance looks awfully spring like but hey this is supposed to be a challenge right?
