a little Mid-Week Inspiration

Last month I was a guest teacher for Masterful Scrapbooking. Our focus was inspiration: where do you get it and how does it translate on to your layouts. I thought it would be fun to take a little peek at one of my projects from the class.

This layout features one of my favorite photos. I don't consider myself a fabulous photographer by any means but sometimes I get lucky. The focal photo of this layout was simply that: lucky. I happened to be in the right place at the right time.

(Supplies Used: Cardstock Bazzill, Patterned Papers Heidi Swapp/Pebbles, Wood Alphas Pink Paislee, Wood Embellishment Studio Calico, Star Brads Making Memories, Soup Label Jillibean Soup, Die Cut My Minds Eye, Buttons Jenni Bowlin/Misc, Circle Punch, Corner Rounder, Stick Pin, Floss, Tiny Alphas Jillibean Soup, Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher and font Veteran Typewriter downloaded from the Internet)

My layout inspiration came from the article below torn from a copy of Health magazine. I was really drawn in by how the negative space was used so I recreated this look on my layout.

Grab a pencil and get crafty

I thought you needed a little more back to school inspiration today. Shhh don't tell but I raided my kids school supply bin to make these cards.

Back-2-school-card-01
(Supplies Used: Lily Bee Patterned Paper/Journaling Index Cards/ABC Stickers, Twine, Corner Rounder, Card Base, Fiskars Tag Punch, Misc Gemstones and pencils)

Learn-card-01
(Supplies Used: Bazzill Cardstock, Lily Bee Patterned Paper, Twine, We R Memory Keepers School Flair, Silhouette Cutting System/Image)

Autumn Spice from Lily Bee is the predominate line featured in both these cards. While it's more of a fall themed paper I found it was super easy to translate into school cards. With the right color combination and embellishments I find it's fairly easy to non themed paper on a themed project.

Have a happy weekend. Don't forget tomorrow is the 15th and that means it's time for my monthly installment of the Colour Suite. Catch ya later :)

Back to School

Yes we are officially one week into the school year. I figured it was appropriate to take you back to school. This layout was from the Fall 2011 issue of Scrapbooking and Cards Today.

Just-right-01
(Supplies Used: Cardstock Bazzill, Fancy Pants Designs Patterned Paper/Rubons/Buttons/Chipboard, Basic Grey Brads, DMC Floss, Stampin Up Punch, Dymo Label Maker, Paper clip and font Traveling Typewriter(journaling) and Learning Curve (title) downloaded from the internet)

Have you ever noticed I don't scrap in chronological order. I dug these photos out of the bottom of the barrel. I kind of like reliving our memories out of order I guess I am quirky that way.

To make your own hand stitched title like mine simply print your title using your word processing program. I use MS Word. Temporarily adhere your title on your layout and use a paper piercer to poke holes along the print.

Just-write-02

Once your holes are poked remove the printed title, remove any leftover adhesive and simply stitch your title.

Just-write-01

You can make just about any custom title using this technique. Thanks for joing me today. Stay tuned in for more from Scrapbooking and Cards Today.

Catching up with Jillibean Soup ... part II

Time for more cards from Jillibean Soup. I figured we could skip all the yadda yadda and get right down to business.

Ur-a-treat-CARD-JBS

(Supplies Used: Cardstock Bazzill, Jillibean Soup Patterned Paper/Stamp/Twine/Alpha Stickers, Corner Rounder, JoAnn's Clear Embossing Powder, Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher and Silhouette Cutting System and Image)

Happy-Day-CARD-JBS

(Supplies Used: Cardstock Bazzill, Jillibean Soup Patterned Paper/Twine/Etched Button/Label Sticker/Hexagon Sticker and Corner Rounder)

Christmas-Dont-Peek-CARD-JB
(Supplies Used: Cardstock Bazzill, Jillibean Soup Patterned Paper/Stamp/Corrugated Paper, Stampin Up Scallop Punch, VersaFine Black Ink, Corner Rounder, and EK Success Circle Punches)

Let's run thru the little details of these 3 cards. On the Halloween card I heat embossed on the black paper using a Jillibean hexagon background stamp then I cut out the image using the Silhouette. The 2nd card is pretty straight foreword I used the hexagon stickers to create a flower. On the Holiday card the stamped greeting is all one image I simply stamped it twice, punched out the center portion and used a pop dot to adhere the center portion.

Have a happy weekend!

Catching up with Jillibean Soup ... part I

Wow I woke up the other day and realized it was September. Where did August go? Today I have a bunch of cards made with the new Jillibean Soup to share, so many that I think I will break them into 2 posts.

Halloween-CARD-JBS

(Supplies Used: Bazzill Cardstock, Jillibean Soup Patterned Paper/kraft Paper/Stamp/Epoxy Buttons/Etched Buttons/Alpha Stickers/Twine, VersaMagic, Corner Rounder, and Silhouette Cutting System)

Hello-Card-JBS

(Supplies Used: Bazzill Cardstock, Jillibean Soup Patterned Paper/Wood Flag/Twine, and Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher)

SMILE-card-JBS
(Supplies Used: Bazzill Cardstock, Jillibean Soup Patterned Paper/Alpha Stickers/Hexagon Sticker/Stamp, Black Floss, VersaMagic Ink and Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher)

These 3 cards might just be some of my current favorites right now. A few notes about each of these cards. On the Halloween card I created the circle piece using my Silhouette software and placed stamped cardstock, patterned paper and epoxy buttons in the background. On the Hello card I did some tone on tone white stitching and I really love the added texture it gives this otherwise simple card. And finally on my smile card the background was created with a Stamp and I added hand stitching to the hexagon.

Thanks for stopping by today stay tuned for more cards and happy crafting ...

I also used a couple older Becky Fleck Spellbinders dies on this layout: Jar Labels and Tags and Flags. If you are wondering about the wire stems of the flowers I cut a slit in the kraft paper and then covered it with the washi tape.

Have a happy and safe holiday weekend
